Neuter!

Monkey went for his neuter today and is now home with us! he seems fine a little groggy from this now but eatting and drinking ok. three more weeks and monkey will be able to live with his sister now! Thanks to all who helped me with those little guys. here are some pictures.

UPDATES!

Hello all. im so sorry for not updating. with Christmas here and all everything is out and about. well Monkey will be going for his neuter on the 31st of Dec! so by the 23rd of Jan Monkey and Girly should be together if all is well. i will take some new pictures tomorrow i hope and get them up as soon as i can, until then everyone take care and have a wonderful Christmas!

i also wanted to thank everyone who helped with Monkey's chipin neuter.

Monkey

Well this morning i bought Monkey to the vet and got him checked to see if he is ready for his neuter, and he is! so once i grab enough money for it he will be going to be neutered and after 3weeks he will be able to live back with his sister! right now i separated them into two habitrail cages and i think they do not like it one bit hehe they are bored so i try my best and play with them, boy do they love playing, they think i guess im a rat and play with my hand just like they would play with each other, its so cute.

Hello all so sorry for not updating lately. well they are going up pretty fast those little buggers. they eat a lot of stuff now like peas,carrots,cheerios,lab blocks,soy baby milk,baby cereal and they all love it! right now they are a little under developed but still thriving! Girl is catching up slowly to her brother. We decided to call them Girly(girl) and Monkey(boy).We are still unsure if they are double rex or rex or anything because Monkey has a bit of hair lost on his face :o wiskers are not too curly nether so we do not know yet.

eating

well the babies are eating a lot of new things such as cheerios and scrambled eggs, baby cereal and of course their baby soy milk. they love to eat on their own now no more syringe feedings. they use the washroom all by them self's, they are acting like little ratties now. i am so happy my hard work is paying off everyday! i will be getting a video up of them being "big" ratties eating on their own tomorrow i hope.

today they started eating brown rice baby cereal! they did try cereal before but did not get the hang of it, now they are starting to and eat right out of the lid! they are also starting to use the washroom on their own. they also moved into a cage!

chipin

Hello all! well i added a chipin thing so i can try and raise some money for the baby rat boy's neuter. i would really like him to be neutered so he can stay with his baby sister for life.

i am asking for help because i am a low income person just trying to help out those poor babies.

babies eating cereal

well tonight we tried some baby cereal for them. they did eat a bit of it but i think im going to wait until their ears open :) but i think they are coming along very well. they also are trying to climb a bit in the box they are in so soon they will be going in a taller box :D

well im am pretty sure now that they are one boy and one girl :D they seem to be doing well today they look like the grew a tiny bit more hair and they look a little more like rats each day! also their teeth are growing too we see them a bit better also.

Well today went well. they are both eating and using the bathroom. im also looking into vet prices on male rat neuters in case for the future. if anyone knows places please do tell me in the ottawa/hull,ontario area.

end of the day

Well it is end of day one with babies here with me and so far so good. It is looking up for them. Today we got a free heating pad to put under the box and all so that's doing well the temp is staying at about 80 degrees F or 26 degrees C. (if i put the pad higher it will heat too much).

As soon as i can get the picture's up of them milking i will.

Also looking more into baby rats and such those guys to me look about 7 to 9 days old. The hair on them is very visible right now.also looking at other baby pictures in the book "rats practical,accurate advice from the expert" by Debbie Ducommun there is a picture of a 5 day old baby rat with almost no hair just a bit of spikes like.

milk feeding

well i found that i had a kit of dri-tail for hamsters laying around in home so i got the eye dropper witch is pretty small and works well. i also put a cap at the end of it to make it smaller so the babies get the milk better(the cap comes from a soft claws kit)

and so far milk is getting into both babies and doing well on it.

story on those little babies

Hello well yesterday(oct 28,2002) I adopted two, 1 week old baby rats in hopes I will save them.
The story on them is that the owner gave them to his/her next door neighbor, saying to do anything they wished with them :o so the next door neighbor posted them for free as feeders and I saw it and emailed them. Once I met the person I asked about the mother, well the mother lives in a garage(and not sure about the father nether) and the original owner of the babies did not want them at all. So I asked if I can have the mother too and that person said well she does not think so and he might ask for quite a bit of money(said hes the type of guy to ask money for everything) so off I went we the babies.
